Former Staff

Designing for Non-Profit

by Eunice Valdez

I am Eunice Valdez, a former graphic designer at Kapatid Ministry, Inc.

How long were you in the Kapatid Ministry as a staff?

I worked in the Kapatid Ministry for 4 years.

What was your tasks and work culture in the Kapatid Ministry during your tenure?

My responsibilities back then included designing a thank-you letter for the Child Sponsorship Program as well as thank-you cards for KMI partners in feeding programs such as Starbucks and Breadtalk. I was also tasked with managing KMI’s website page, which included creating daily social media designs and postings intended to share the recent update on what is new in the program. The time I spent in the Kapatid Ministry was both a great experience and a blessing. Since it was my first job, I am grateful for the opportunity to work for a non-profit organization (NGO) because, in addition to learning and expanding my design skills, this work allowed me to have a deeper relationship with God and serve Him through the ministry. We also have a daily morning devotion where we pray for each other, especially during difficult times.

How did the work in the Kapatid Ministry impact you personally?

Personally, it changed me a lot. To begin with, it aided me in improving my skills in designing. I was able to learn a lot from Sir Titus, and I have been using it ever since. I was shy back then, but working at KMI helped me overcome it through social interaction with other people and partner churches. Finally, the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of our daily work pay off by seeing the children grow in their faith and achieve their goals in life.

How did the Kapatid Ministry help you and your family?

Kapatid Ministry assisted me in numerous ways, especially during a difficult time in my family’s life. They greatly helped us raise funds for my nephew, who suffered from biliary atresia, a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that affects infants. Their help was truly beneficial to us. KMI also supported me in my pursuit of a teaching degree. They helped me find a university that offers free tuition. Now that I am in my final year, I am hoping to finish my degree this year and be able to give back to them by teaching.

I was shy back then, but working at KMI helped me overcome it through social interaction with other people and partner churches. Finally, the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of our daily work pay off by seeing the children grow in their faith and achieve their goals in life.
